In the fall of 1990 my brother-in-law gave me his old DOS runnin' Compaq because he graduated into the wonderful world of Microsoft's Windows GUI.
I followed a year later and was a Windows guy for the next 25 years. I never dipped a toe into Mac-Land because even though Apple made computers "for the rest of us" ... I guess I didn't have as much money as the rest of us.
